Prioritise Intimacy

We will just get straight into it….The bible says “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you”. Why does the bible tell us to seek first His kingdom? If you deep this and really meditate on it, you realise that God wants His kingdom to come on earth through His purpose for you. In the Lords prayer, we pray, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. This means to bring down the culture in heaven here on earth. But how do we do this?
You can’t bring God’s kingdom here on earth if you don’t even know about the kingdom. In this generation we are obsessed with purpose over intimacy. We pray, ‘God what is it that you have called me to do?’ yet we do not know who has called us. Intimacy is cultivating a real relationship with God.The Pharisees thought that they were following the book to the dot. However, they couldn’t even see the Lord they served when He was in front of them. They were blind to the Lord they served. They didn’t have a relationship with God. Be someone who is after the heart of God not someone looking to be applauded, or someone who just knows the word of God.
Before God appointed Jeremiah, He knew him – That’s intimacy! Intimacy comes first. Then before Jeremiah was born, he was given a purpose. You don’t chase purpose. Purpose reveals itself to you because you are connected to the agenda it is for. You can’t be chasing purpose for the kingdom you are not planted in.
God could care less about what you want to build for Him if your heart is not in the right place. People who say God I did this for you, yet Jesus looks at them and says I never knew you because they didn’t create that intimacy with God. Their heart was not in the right place.

Do you know God?
Like is God your best friend?
Are you really someone after His heart? Or are you after His works?

For 30 years Jesus was building intimacy with the Father. Let’s follow His example and prioritise intimacy. We find it hard to be consistent in our Faith because we haven’t built that relationship with God. He wants to have an intimate relationship with you. It’s really up to you. So, this week, start with small consistent actions to intentionally seek God. Write down the actions you are going to take to keep yourself accountable. Be intentional about spending time with God.
Scriptures to meditate on: James 4:8, 1 Chronicles 16:11, Matthew 6:33, Jeremiah 1:5
