How often do we identify ourselves with the things of the world? We put our identity in our job title, our degree, where we live, how much money we have, our relationship status or our life choices. Sometimes even, we identify ourselves with what happened to us, how we were abused or how we lacked. According to the bible we are children of God, so our identity should lie in Him! You can only fully know who you are when you understand whose you are and decide to live according to what He has called you to be. (Romans 8:16-17)The enemy can have an advantage over you when you don’t know who you are. The battle surely is in your mind. As a man thinketh so is He! It doesn’t matter what God has said upon your life if you don’t believe it. When your mind is divided you can’t move in the fulness of your identity in Christ. If you don’t think like it, you can’t be like it.I lost my aunt this year who was a mother to me. When she passed away, I sort of didn’t know who I was. Not that my identity lied in her, but because I was her child. I felt lost without her in my life. Sometimes this is the way we feel when we don’t have God in our lives or when we backslide, we lose ourselves. But one thing I love about God is that you can always go back to Him. He is always there! |

In a world of cancel culture it is so easy to conform to this world and align your identity with the world in fear of being cancelled or being different. Not knowing who you are can shake your stability and it can lead you to find security in the wrong things. Your gifts are accessories. Your identity stays the same. Your identity lies in Christ. Immerse yourself in the word of God to know who you are, who God says you are. But remember this: You are a child of the king. You have been adopted into the family of God. You are an heir of God. A child of the King. How does that make you feel today? You can start knowing who God says you are from these scriptures: 2 Timothy 1:7, 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, Revelations 1:5-6, 1 Corinthians 6:19-21, psalm 139:14, Romans 6:11-14, Romans 8:37-38, Galatian 4:4-5, Ephesians 1:6 and Philippians 4:13. |
